Oooooooh I just love a good mystery, don’t you? I think this is one of my biggest attractions to vintage items–solving the big mystery of any given item and learning all I can about it! It’s definitely one of the things I love the most about hunting around for vintage gold. Who made it? Where did it come from? What year was it made? The more of these questions I can answer about the items after my vintage hunts the happier I typically am! Years ago, pre-internet this was so much more difficult and people had to rely on clunky collectors books and antique appraisers to get a better idea of the what, when and where of an item’s existence. Now that we can have the internet right on our smart phones things are much more easily and quickly identified– but as anyone who has ever seen an incorrectly credited online item knows, using the internet as your aid in this endeavor is sometimes tricky.
